The setting has a beautiful garden that children have access to throughout their day in all weathers. All the materials from the indoor classroom can be taken outside and enjoyed on the AstroTurf area at the front of our garden and sports activities including cricket, rugby, athletics, gymnastics, golf and tug of war can be enjoyed at the rear of the garden, along with Forest Schools education and gardening activities in the middle of the garden. We also back onto the Old Colfeian playing fields which can be used for bigger events and help add to the wonderful, nature rich outlook of the setting.
Maria Montessori emphasised the need for children to explore the real world. She said
A child, more than anyone else, is a spontaneous observer of nature.
Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.
In addition, our children enjoy a carefully planned programme of outings and events including a sports day, a teddy bears picnic, nature walks and visits to a local shop and school.
